Slam Richmond

Hello fellow Bri's Bookers!

This week I would like to introduce you all to Slam Richmond.

Slam Richmond is an organization in Richmond (obviously) that hosts both writing workshops as well as a weekly open mic night. It is a free event!

I have been to Slam Richmond once (where I performed my spoken word piece, "Untitled") and the experience was amazing. I heard all kinds of different pieces. Some of them were one minute long while some of them were five. There were some people there who were performing for the first time (myself included) and some who have been in national competitions before. It was so interesting to hear all of the different styles and see all of the different backgrounds. The environment was unique and I was made to feel very welcome. Writers are free to say whatever they want and be respected.

I highly recommend trying this out to anyone who is interested in spoken word whether to listen or to perform. I will definitely be going again in the near future.
